This will be my 3rd trip to Lassen & I still haven't gone on more than 10% of the hiking trails available. This time I'm camping at the northeastern tip so that I can do the Cinder Cone & Prospect Peak hikes plus be close to Butte Lake for some swimming, rowing, fishing.
There's a real rawness to Lassen that appeals to me...a rough & tumble sort of National Park. You've got great views, trees, massive rocks, lots of cool hideaways, yet when you reach the mud-pots, it's like a moonscape with gravity.
